"Creativity can't be forced, it takes space to grow like a garden. To see like an artist is to observe from every perspective and then to grow is to make meaning of it for you and in turn for others.
The space it takes to create is lessened by the experience of knowledge; the more you make with inquiry and observation the more creative you become in EVERY way, not exclusive to the artist's way."

"Always be uniquely YOU. There will be no one else just like you, so be YOUR best self. One of my favorite things about working in the art studio and teaching a step-by-step class is being able to see just how unique each person's project turns out to be. I think that’s one of the most wonderful things about art, we get to express and share the different ways we each see the world."

"We're not just making art in here- we're teaching another way of being, thinking and seeing our world. Teaching art to young friends is so special and fun. The conversation often goes from "I already know how to do that," to "Well, actually I've never done this before..." to "This doesn't look right, I messed up." And that's when I say "Keep going. Trust me and trust yourself." Once they do the magic happens. They start to discover the connection between their eyes and their mind, to their hands. Then they feel it and they make something absolutely beautiful. They rush to show it to their person at the end of class, and they're so proud of what they created, they just beam up at you with this confidence saying, "Look what I made!" And it feels like a dream!"
